Baidu, the Chinese search engine and artificial intelligence giant, launched its ChatGPT-equivalent language model, Ernie Bot, to the general public in China.
Ernie Bot is an LLM trained on a massive dataset of text and code. It can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer questions in an informative way.
Smith LangChain is a platform for building and deploying LLMs. It provides a unified environment for debugging, testing, evaluating, and monitoring LLM applications. Smith LangChain also includes a variety of tools and resources to help developers get started with LLMs, including a library of pre-trained models, a code editor, and a debugger.
Google Workspace introduces Duet AI, a set of AI-powered features that help users write, visualize, organize, connect, and more. Duet AI is available in various Google Workspace apps, including Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Sheets.
Slack AI is a new feature that will generate summaries of your work chats. This will help you catch up on what you missed, even if you’ve been away.
Summaries will be generated based on keywords, context, and actions taken. For example, if you miss a few days of discussion on a project, Slack AI can summarize the key decisions made and the next steps needed.
Slack AI summaries can also identify and highlight important tasks and deadlines. This can help you stay on top of your workload and meet all of your commitments.
UK biotech startup Etcembly has used generative AI to design a novel cancer immunotherapy called ETC-101 at an unprecedented pace. ETC-101 targets a protein called PRAME found in many cancers while sparing healthy tissue. Etcembly’s AI platform, EMLy, rapidly generates and optimizes T cell receptor (TCR) therapeutics, significantly shortening the development timeline. The AI-driven approach has the potential to revolutionize TCR research and accelerate new cancer treatments.
Apptronik Apollo is a new humanoid robot that can lift 55 pounds. It’s designed to work alongside humans in logistics and manufacturing, but it’s also versatile enough for other industries.
Equipped with sensors and AI, Apollo can see and learn. Apptronik is positioning Apollo as the “iPhone” of robots, meaning that it’s a versatile platform that developers can extend to meet the specific needs of different industries and applications. The company is currently working with partners to develop new apps for Apollo, and it’s expected to be released to the commercial market in early 2024.
Meta AI’s DINOv2 is a new vision transformer (ViT) model that learns general-purpose visual features from unlabeled data. These features can be used to train downstream computer vision tasks, such as image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation, with minimal fine-tuning.
The AI Date Idea Generator by MySpicyVanilla is a tool that utilizes artificial intelligence to generate personalized and unique date night plans. It aims to break the monotony of traditional dinner-and-movie dates by tailoring date ideas specifically to suit the interests and preferences of each couple.
Embeddings with Vertex AI is a free course, offered in collaboration with Google Cloud Platform, that teaches you how to use text embeddings, and numerical representations of text, for NLP tasks such as clustering, classification, outlier detection, and building question-answering systems. Designed for beginners with basic Python knowledge.
AI-generated mushroom foraging books are being sold on Amazon, posing a serious risk to pickers. Experts warn that these books may be inaccurate and unsafe, and caution against using them to identify wild mushrooms.
A US firm found that samples from these books had a 100% AI detection score, suggesting they were likely written by chatbots. Some of the books encourage the dangerous use of “smell and taste” for mushroom identification.
Mistaking toxic mushrooms for edible ones can be deadly. Amazon is reviewing the books in question.
Lobe AI is a free and easy-to-use machine learning platform that enables anyone to train and deploy custom machine learning models without writing any code. Simply collect and label your data, and Lobe AI will automatically train a model that can be deployed to industry standard formats.
Teachable Machine is a web-based tool for training machine learning models without code. It supports real-time model training, which means you can train models using your webcam or microphone. This is great for tasks like object tracking, gesture recognition, and speech recognition.
To train a real-time model in Teachable Machine, select the model type and add training examples by recording yourself or uploading files.
